  • janet edmonds textile artist biography1 Inspired by creativity coach Rod Judkins, we each considered how we would design the cover of our fictional autobiography and the seeds of the project were sown. as the ideas for the book covers evolved, we started researching other artists who created overtly autographical work with which some personal connection was felt.
  • Janet Edmonds - Mams Gallery She first came upon clay during her few years at Art School. She loved it but was told she wasn’t very good, so she signed up to take evening classes for many years, honing her craft. The clay felt right in her hands; she could manipulate and build with it.

    The geology of Britain’s coastline has long been an inspiration for textile work reflecting my early years living by the sea. I am fascinated by the rhythms of sea and weather, which over time, creates imperceptible changes to the structure of coast, rocks, stones and sand.

      • Janet Edmonds trained at East Berkshire College, Windsor and The University of Hertfordshire, completing a BA (Hons) in Art and Design in 1998.
    Janet Edmonds is an award winning textile artist, tutor and author. Her work is mainly three dimensional but also makes 2D pieces. Drawing and design are important aspects of her work and an interest in surface detail informs her work.
      Janet has observed circles in many different contexts whilst walking the Outer Aylesbury Ring, from marks on the ground and in the trees, encircling footpaths.
    A part of ‘The Textile Artist’ series, From Art to Stitch by Janet Edmonds is about creating mixed media textile art inspired and influenced by the style of historical famous artists. She doesn’t stop at those related to textiles, within this volume we see pieces inspired by Van Gogh and Matisse to name just a few.
      Janet Edmonds is an embroidery instructor and the author of "Beginner's Guide to Embroidered Boxes.".
